Ryan Cassman

Ryan is a Partner at Barrow Brown Carrington, PLLC, and an Attorney, Mediator, Certified Family Law Specialist and Parenting Coordinator.  Ryan has received numerous honors and awards, including being named as an Indiana Super Lawyer from 2009 to 2024, and being on the Top 50 Indiana Super Lawyer List in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2023, and 2024.

While most family law cases resolve through negotiation or mediation, with over two decades of lead trial experience Ryan is well-equipped to litigate the most complicated family law cases including divorce, separation, custody modifications, guardianships, and high-income child support matters. Ryan has numerous reported appellate cases and has presented oral arguments at the Indiana Supreme Court.  Ryan also dedicates a portion of his litigation and appellate practice to representing adoptive parents in contested adoptions across Indiana.

Ryan’s experience and temperament make him effective at resolving cases without trial and he is often selected by other attorneys and judges to serve as mediator for divorce and other family law matters.  In addition to mediation, Ryan offers other alternative dispute resolution (“ADR”) services including collaborative divorce, family law arbitration, and parenting coordination.

Ryan is an active member of the Indiana legal community and is a frequent speaker at Continuing Legal Education (“CLE”) seminars.  He is the current Chair of the Executive Council of the ADR Section of the Indiana State Bar Association, a Distinguished Lifetime Fellow of the Indianapolis Bar Foundation, has previously served on the Board of Directors as well as the Family Law and ADR Sections of the Indianapolis Bar Association, and as Chair of the Family Law Section of the Hamilton County Bar Association. 

Away from the office, Ryan is a husband, father and ‘dog-dad’ who enjoys live music, anything outdoors and IU and Pacers basketball.
