Stephanie Exner

Stephanie joins the Denver team of Barrow Brown Carrington with 14 years of experience in family and child protection litigation. Having worked with families from all walks of life, and during one of their greatest personal struggles, has provided Stephanie with a unique view into the many dynamic and complex relationships that exist within a family unit. Stephanie prides herself on having an empathetic and client- focused practice.

Stephanie has practiced exclusively in Colorado, not only in the Greater Denver Metro Area, but also Eagle, Larimer, Weld, Elbert, and Morgan Counties. She is well-versed in both Family Law and Child Protection, with a distinct understanding of the systems and regulations that guide the agencies tasked with the protection of children. Having appeared and litigated in front of numerous judicial officers, Stephanie understands the importance of both strong advocacy for her clients, as well as structuring her cases to match the unique expectations of the judge that will be deciding the matter. Just as every client is different, so too is every judge. It is also this lack of uniformity amongst the bench that motivates Stephanie to develop creative solutions and “think outside the box” to reach fair and equitable settlements for her clients.

Stephanie was born and raised in Tucson, Arizona, attending rival Arizona State University, much to her family’s chagrin. As a first-generation college graduate, Stephanie spent the next few years working in sales and finance before making the leap into law school. She has been a proud resident of Colorado since 2005, attending the University of Denver Sturm College of Law.

As a self-professed morning person, Stephanie can usually be found taking advantage of the quiet early morning hour enjoying a good hot cup of coffee and a book, hiking, or snuggling with her pups. She and her husband are currently “enjoying” navigating life with a tween daughter who loves all things spooky and not being embarrassed by her parents.
