ABOUT TROY
FAMILY LITIGATION ATTORNEY
Troy DeMuth was born in Louisville, Kentucky. He graduated from St. Xavier High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Louisville, where he also studied abroad in Osaka, Japan. Mr. DeMuth relocated to St. Louis, Missouri, to attend Washington University School of Law, receiving his Juris Doctorate. After completing law school, he returned to Louisville, where he was admitted to the Kentucky Bar Association and licensed to practice in the Eastern District of Kentucky Federal Court. He is also a member of the Louisville Bar Association.
Mr. DeMuth focuses his legal practice on family law, handling cases related to divorce, child custody, child abuse and neglect, domestic violence, child support, and adoption. He is an approved family court mediator and also serves as a Guardian Ad Litem, advocating for children’s interests, and Friend of Court, providing recommendations to the Courts regarding issues related to children. Over the years, Mr. DeMuth has held leadership roles including serving as President of the Association of Parent’s Attorneys of Louisville, President of the Guardian Ad Litem’s Association of Louisville, and Chair of the Family Law Section of the Louisville Bar Association. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML) and also has served as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Louisville, Louis D. Brandeis School of Law teaching law students Family Law and Mediation skills. Mr. DeMuth has also worked as an attorney consultant for the Casey Family Programs foundation on the Judicial Engagement Team, assisting Courts around the country develop best practices in child abuse and neglect cases.
