Erin Kennedy

Erin S. Kennedy Startzman is a seasoned attorney with over 14 years of experience advocating for families and individuals across Kentucky. As the founding attorney of Kennedy Law Office, PLLC, Erin focuses on family law matters, including complex divorce cases involving high finance and custody issues, domestic violence, and child welfare. Her practice extends to representing parents and children in dependency, neglect, and abuse cases, as well as being appointed as Friend of Court and Guardian ad Litem in family court proceedings.

Erin’s career is marked by her deep commitment to her clients and community. She has been honored to serve as a Guardian ad Litem in various family courts, including Jefferson, Oldham, Henry, and Franklin Circuit Courts, advocating for the best interests of children and parents involved in contentious legal matters. Erin also regularly devoted time to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Kentucky, where she has been a dedicated board member since 2010, including serving as Board President from 2019 to 2021.

Her broad legal experience spans District, Family Circuit, Circuit Courts, the Kentucky Court of Appeals, the Kentucky Supreme Court, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Kentucky, and the U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. Erin’s legal practice is bolstered by extensive training in dependency neglect and abuse law, court technology, and legal research tools, ensuring that she remains at the forefront of evolving legal issues.

A passionate advocate for justice, Erin has also volunteered with the Kentucky Innocence Project and has held leadership positions in various legal and social work organizations. Her academic background includes a Juris Doctor from Salmon P. Chase College of Law, a Master of Social Work from the University of Louisville, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.
